Quarterstaff & Found weapons: For Intermediate and Advanced students

Let your inner child play … and RAGE!

Really excited for this course, with two very fun weapon systems. With a Quarterstaff you’ll learn how to wield one of the most adaptable and playful weapon, whether it be a good ol’ bout of medieval stick fighting, eastern martial arts, or practicing your dual-lightsaber tricking and flairing.

Found Weapons takes us somewhere entirely different: we bring in a selection of random items, and you can too, if you like, and from the chaos we will build a fight. Ever wondered how to choreograph a fight scene using props and your environment? Wondered how to kill someone with an eggcup? Your pillow? A bike pump? This is your chance to create choreography specific to your surroundings, character and script using whatever your characters can get their hands on.

WHO IT’S FOR:
Anyone looking to gain their Intermediate or Advanced Fighter status, either with a current Standard (Level 1) BADC qualification or looking to add to their current additional qualifications or improve level 2 and 3 results. Those with at least a Standard Level qualification from another Stage Combat training organisation (BASSC, APC) can be considered for the BADC Further Weapons training if their qualification is still valid.
WEAPONS COVERED:
This course will cover Quarterstaff and Found Weapons
This is an intensive course in which students will spend up to 50 hours learning to safely perform fight choreography in each of the fight disciplines stated above. This course will build upon the foundations gained on the Standard Level qualification, with students engaging with the dramatic and historic elements of each weapon system whilst presenting a technique that is hidden to the audience, to create a fully committed, truthful performance. Both of the weapon systems will incorporate a script.

As the requirements to obtain Intermediate or Advanced Fighter status have now changed within the BADC (two distinctions needed after Standard level for Intermediate and a further two distinctions to become Advanced), this course offers those students looking to improve upon past qualifications the best chance to hone their skills, improve technique and combine it with the dramatic intent needed to operate at the top level.

Students will have the opportunity at the end of the course to certify with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat.
The test fee is included in the course price.
